چکیده
Abstract A new enantiornithine, Musivavis amabilis n. gen. sp., is reported from the Lower Cretaceous Jehol Biota in western Liaoning, China. The taxon similar to bohaiornithids robust subconical teeth, bluntly expanded omal ends of furcula, caudolaterally oriented lateral trabeculae with triangular distal sternum, and a second pedal digit. Yet it differs members Bohaiornithidae several features recalling other enantiornithine lineages, such as acuminate rostral ramus maxilla, shape coracoid margin, presence craniolateral processes on proportions manual phalanges, unspecialized third ungual phalanx. comprehensive phylogenetic analysis Mesozoic birds shows that homoplasy significantly affects reconstruction relationships. When all characters are considered equal weight, reconstructed lineage related radiation large-bodied enantiornithines including Pengornithidae. Alternative scenarios based progressive downweighting homoplastic support more basal placements pengornithids among Enantiornithes, but do not alter affinity member “bohaiornithid-grade” group. Description of a new enantiornithine bird from the Early Cretaceous of Hebei, northern China
This paper describes a new enantiornithine fossil bird, Vescornis hebeiensis, nov. sp. from the Early Cretaceous of China. We refer Vescornis to the crown clade Euenantiornithes based on several characteristics observed in the thoracic girdle and wing. Vescornis also exhibits characteristics that separate it from other enantiornithine birds, such as the short alular phalanx, the vestigial manua...

متن کاملA Fish-Eating Enantiornithine Bird from the Early Cretaceous of China Provides Evidence of Modern Avian Digestive Features
Modern birds differ from their theropod ancestors in lacking teeth and heavily constructed bony jaws, having evolved a lightly built beak and a specialized digestive system capable of processing unmasticated food [1, 2]. Enantiornithes, the most successful clade of Mesozoic birds, represents the sister group of the Ornithuromorpha, which gave rise to living birds [3]. Nevertheless, the feeding ...
